Bellator 171 - All You Need To Know

Bellator continue to ramp up their activity with their second event of the month taking place on January 27th. Kansas will host Bellator 171, where the UFC veteran Melvin Guillard will take on the red hot Chidi Njokuani, who has only lost once in his last 13 fights.

This will be a thrilling fight with a lot to prove for both fighters. Guillard is desperate for his first Bellator win and Njokuani is desperate for a title shot. It’s fair to say the talented and explosive Guillard has never lived up to his potential as he has struggled with numerous weight cuts and controversies outside of the octagon. He will be hoping to end Njokuani’s six-fight win streak who has eyes for Douglas Lima’s Welterweight title.

The co-main event features David Rickels who suffered a TKO at the hands of Guillard in his last bout, however the fight was deemed a ‘No-Contest’ due to Guillard testing positive for a banned substance. He will take on a completely different challenge in the form of submission expert Aaron Derrow, who is looking to put a third straight win together.
