UFC Fight Night 104 - The Return Of The Zombie

Chan Sung Jung returns to the Octagon on 5th February in Houston, Texas. Injuries and a mandatory military stint for his home nation of South Korea has deprived us all of watching one of the most exciting featherweights in the world for nearly four years. His long-awaited return will be against a beast in Dennis Bermudez who is back on track for a title shot.

The featherweight division has completely changed since Sung Jung’s last fight against Jose Aldo in 2013. Back then, Aldo was slaying every contender that stood in front of him, making the division look weak even though it was filled with great talent. This all changed when Conor McGregor not-so discreetly walked onto the scene and kept on marching until he eventually met his target, Aldo. McGregor dethroned the king of the division in a matter of seconds before moving up to focus on lightweight and welterweight fighters. His impact was like a tsunami hitting the division leaving a wake of destruction and interim belts. This fight between the Korean Zombie and Bermudez may just unearth the next contender for the belt as the current interim champion; Max Holloway waits on Aldo’s next move to see if he will relinquish the real belt to chase McGregor in the lightweight division.

The co-main event is also an interesting match-up as the Mexican Alexa Grasso looks to solidify her ‘top contender’ status in the strawweight division. Currently undefeated and hungry for a chance to share the cage with the dominant champion that is Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Grasso will have to get past a veteran in Felice Herrig.

Fight Night 104 will also showcase the debuts of light heavyweight Volkan Oezdemir (up against Ovince St. Preux) and heavyweight Marcel Fortuna (up against Anthony Hamilton). As we have no UFC stats for these fighters we have broken down all of their previous fights to see what outcome is most likely.
